School revamp scheme moves nearer

Plans to invest more than £100m in rebuilding and refurbishing six schools in the Fenland area of Cambridgeshire have moved a step closer.

Cromwell, Neale-Wade, Thomas Clarkson , Sir Harry Smith community colleges, Meadowgate School and Fenland Junction Pupil Referral Unit are to get funds.

Cambridgeshire County Council has started the process to find partners in the project.

The council wants to work with architects, building and IT firms.

The process of the finding partners is expected to last about 19 months.

If the government gives the go-ahead first work at Neal Wade Community College and Thomas Clarkson Community College are expected to start in Spring 2010.
